Avoid these common errors and improve your writing instantly!
- Mr. Mason is coming late to classes everyday ➡ Mr. Mason comes late to classes everyday.
- Present tense for habitual action and present continuous for right now.
- Siripong he is my brother, he lives in Changmai ➡ Siripong is my brother, and[who] he lives in Changmai
- A compound sentence needs a coordinating conjunction or a relative pronoun and mentioning the subject as a noun and then as a pronoun in a clause is not allowed as it is redundant.
- My home there is a servant she takes care of the cooking ➡ My home has a servant/In my home there is a servant who takes care of the cooking
- Do not use servant and she as it is redundant; if you use a preposition make it “there are” but without the preposition make it “has”
- My mother is a wife house and she nice ➡ My mother is a housewife, and[who] she is nice
- Is/am/are + adjective; in compound nouns the first noun acts the part of an adjective
- As I would like to learn English ➡ As I would like to learn English I study the subject everyday
- If it is an independent clause “as” can be deleted; but if you have “as” it is a dependent clause without an independent clause, which is a fragment
- My sister said go to her classes everyday improved her English ➡ My sister said that going to her classes everyday improved her English
- The gerund, or verb-noun, “going” is needed as a subject for the second clause
- In my club we there are much elections to determine the officers ➡ In my club there are many elections to determine the officers/My club has many elections to determine the officers
- The preposition “in” needs “there are” but without the preposition and you must use “has”
- I meet with her everyday next week ➡ I will meet with her everyday next week
- It is a one time occurrence stretched over many days so present tense is not correct
- Every Friday she will go to her class at 9:00 ➡ Every Friday she goes to her classes at 9:00
- Present tense is for habitual action
- Because she doesn’t want drink alcohol ➡ Because she doesn’t want to drink alcohol she drinks coffee
- If you delete because it is a simple sentence or independent clause, but if you use “because” you have a dependent clause with no independent clause, so a fragment
- He said he want marry her ➡ He said that he wanted to marry her
- Subject verb alignment with an “s”; verb+infinitive; align past tense in both clauses for good parallel structure
- I listening to music and to eat pizza ➡ I like listening to music and eating pizza
- Keep it harmonious in both clauses with parallel structure
- My brother said in choose this field I will be earning a lot of money ➡ My brother said that in choosing this field I would be earning a lot of money
- Align past tense in both clauses; preposition+gerund
- There is other thing that is important to me, it is my part-time job ➡ There is another thing that is important to me, and it is my part-time job
- “Other” is usually an adjective for a plural noun and “another” is one other; you need a coordinating conjunction or there will be a comma splice
- I want every people do his very best work ➡ I want every person to do his very best work
- Every is for singular nouns; verb+ infinitive
- Because she don’t want to get married ➡ Because she does not want to get married she remains single
- This is a fragment for “because” alters this simple sentence, this independent clause into a dependent clause and here we do not have an independent clause to connect with
- Louis he is my cousin, he lives in Nongkai ➡ Louis is my cousin, and he lives in Nongkai
- The coordinating conjunction of “and” is needed, for without it there is a comma splice; don’t repeat the subject as a noun and then a pronoun
- In the theater have much chairs ➡ In the theater there are many chairs/The theater has many chairs
- Remember preposition + there is/there are/there was/there were
- My home there is a gardener he takes care of the plants ➡ At my home there is a gardener who takes care of the plants /My home has a gardener who takes care of the plants
- Conversely, without the preposition and use has/have/had
- I like sing at karaoke every Saturday ➡I like to sing at a karaoke every Saturday
- Verb+infinitive
